Goodwood 75MM Members Meeting 2016

Goodwood 75th Member Meeting provided all the thrills and spills motor racing has to offer this weekend.

We were extremely happy with the acknowledgement of the “uncrowned king of Goodwood”, our late family member Reg Parnell. Goodwood this year named a race the Parnell Cup. Although we did not personally have any engines running, the acknowledgement for our family member, David’s mentor and uncle is greatly appreciated.

A huge congratulations to Barry Cannell for winning the Brooks Trophy outright in the Cooper-Climax T51. This car utilises our 2.5litre monster built to order for the previous owner and now owned proudly by Barry. Miles Griffiths stormed the 2014 HGPCA championship in the car winning overall and now we are very pleased to see Barry repeating the success at Goodwood! Well done Barry!

In the same race a terrible and dramatic accident occurred with a Lotus 18 Climax driven by Stephen Bond. This car is also power by a DWR 2.5 Climax. Fortunately Stephen survived with a minor injury, reminding us all again that motor sport is dangerous. Thank you to the marshalls and all the staff that attended the scene and drivers, stay safe out there! Stephen, we wish you a speedy and full recovery.

5 sets of 5.125 crown wheel and pinions for BMC MGA differentials fresh from our manufacturers

Some of you may well know by now that the mystery 5.125 ratio CW&P are difficult to find these days. Legend has it that these were fitted originally in the GPO vans back in the day – try for yourself, we can only ever find anecdotal evidence.

We have found these very effective in adding that much needed acceleration on many short circuits, particularly out the corners. They fit Lotus Elite, ELVA, MGA, Lotus XI and others.

So rather than looking around for sub-standard second hand, well worn, potentially cracked components we decided to make new ones as many a historic race has been lost through component failure!

These come as a factory lapped pair to ensure smooth running and longevity.

They are readily available now to you dear customer so if you think these will benefit you, then give us a call but be quick, because when they’re gone they’re gone!
